Given that it is the weekend, and my dear +Lizzi R hosts the brilliant '10 things of thankful' over at http://summat2thinkon.blogspot.co.uk/ to keep us all going (especially when there are things that make us not so thankful in life, believe me there are days when there are many!) I am making my first post in this mindset. For this week, in no particular order, I am thankful for:
1. The lovely Lizzi for being there and reading things I have written and telling me that I should *definitely* start a blog, and for helping me get this whole thing set up.
2. The glorious sunshine, I mean it's nearly 6pm as I write this and it is still **hot**!! Okay, I don't handle heat very well and moan about it sometimes, but I have been able to get washing on and get it on the line today, and it is good to not have to use the heating (there was a night at the end of May when it went back on!)
3. The brilliant woods in which we
Some woods - in Lordswood - somewhere??? |
4. The beautiful flower box I got given by the staff at my old branch on Friday, they are lovely, and I only hope I can look after them properly and keep them alive! It was such a lovely gift, and while I am looking forward to getting to the new branch, I will miss lots of things (and people) about the old branch.
5. The new game I was able to learn today which I really got into, and the fact that I won it (did I mention that? Call it beginners' luck if you like, but I won, and +Lizzi R came last and we all know how much Lizzi
6. The opportunity yesterday to pop in to a branch and see a pharmacist I worked with a long time ago when I
7. Kettle chips - they seriously are the best crisps (okay, if you're stateside, chips) ever! We indulged in Salt and Vinegar today, but pretty much any flavour is fine! I don't know their secret, but they are AMAZING!
8. Grey's Anatomy - I got the chance to sit down and indulge in some DVDs yesterday, and rather than start at the beginning again, I had to go to the singing episode of season 7 (which I will say no more about in case people haven't seen it), and while not having quite the excitement and impact of the first time I watched it, was still fabulous and Owen Hunt was still Scottish-Warrior-God in "How we operate":
9. I have booked a ticket to see a band I have liked for ages and always wanted to see, and while I have to wait until November, it will come round soon enough, and I have someone to go with who is sitting in the seat directly in front (stupid booking system won't let you book one seat where I could have been next to her if that leaves an isolated empty seat).
10. Pizza Hut - I enjoyed the most amazing feast last night courtesy of said company, shared with the Mother (more about her to come in future blogs, I'm sure!), and I still have a slice left to have with something for tea tonight!
Right, that's all for now folks, I shall get thinking of my 10 things of thankful for next week dreckly (it's a Cornish thing for "straight away" don't you know - see video) and hopefully get another post done during the week.
So *THAT'S* what you wanted the strikethrough for! What are you like :)
ReplyDeleteLoving your first post, and your first Ten Things of Thankful all in one.
Who are you going to see?
And also, that song is painful! The original is bad enough but that is hilariously bad! :)
I'm going to see Texas, yes strike throughs are clever aren't they ;), and I shall assume you're talking about the Cornish girls, not Owen Hunt, and I'll forgive you as I don't expect you to get it as you're just not Cornish! :p
DeleteThis is very true - I just aren't. Going to see Texas should be a hoot :)
DeleteExplorer friend! So good to meet you! That is hilarious that you asked Lizzi for directions on how to do strike throughs so you could make fun of her! I like you already. :)
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful flower arrangement. If it were mine, it would be dead in a week.
Welcome to blogging, and I look forward to seeing you in the link-up every week!
Oi!
DeleteNice to meet you too :). Well there's nothing like a bit of banter between friends ;). To be honest that's what I'm scared about with the flowers, I'm going to have to pay attention to them so I don't let that happen!
ReplyDeleteSo YOU'RE "Explorer Friend"! I hope you drop bread crumbs to follow next time you and Lizzi go hiking in the woods! I enjoyed your list and look forward to hearing more from you.
ReplyDelete(My daughter's name is Emma, too, but shhhhhh, I don't use it in my blog!)
Yes it is me :) Good name you chose for your daughter ;). We haven't dropped crumbs before (Hansel and Gretel's ones got eaten) but we have made arrows with twigs which worked quite well.
DeleteJust about to catch up on all the posts I haven't commented on yet from the last blog hops...
ReplyDeleteI am a big fan of Kettle chips and Grey's, too! And I totally get that you were happy about the sunshine! Nice list!
Thank you :). Can't get enough of those chips, and Grey's is really good, I need to get seasons 8 and 9 on DVD, I have 1-7.
