Real beauty

So, the twisted mix tape over at Jen's this week is "Beautiful".  She's just left it at that.  To our own interpretation.  And my, hasn't my mind been going wild.  And I've finally settled on the following stance - I wanted to do some songs about REAL beauty, not that stupid, media, page 3, skinny = beautiful, tonnes of make-up and sexiness, the opposite of all this, the beauty on the INSIDE!


1. Christina Aguilera - Beautiful

Obviously the title definitely makes this one fit!  I just love the song, it's uplifting, and gets you to remember that no matter what other people say or how they try and make you feel, you have worth!



2. TLC - Unpretty

Here we have TLC reminding us girls that if a man is judging you on how you look, and trying to dictate to you what your wear and how you do your hair, then really he's a bit of a prat!



3. Beautiful South - 36D

Not only do this band have "beautiful" in their name, this song is all about explaining to a woman (who sounds like she might have either been a prostitute or at least a bit of a local bike) that she is more than her bra size, she needs to look inside herself more, respect and value herself for her true worth.



4. Alicia Keys - A woman's worth

Alicia Keys sums it up well here - THESE are the things that are important in a relationship, and how you should treat each other - and the beauty that must come when you  have such a life between you - that is real love!


5.  Pink - Stupid girls

Pink always has a good message with her songs, she's brilliant, and here she is saying girls, you have a choice, do you want to be that stupid, idiot bimbo that the men want us to be for them, or are you gonna be your own person and go out and get what you want and be strong and fulfil your potential - which is more important? 

So there we have it, my five songs about real beauty, not just that model-stick-thin story we get fed by the media!
