1. My car passed its MOT - yippee! Okay, I had to pay for it, and a brake fluid change, and to have the hand brake adjusted (not to mention any names, but someone - **COUGH COUGH** sister - insisted on putting it on too tight and stretching it out) but the car is now officially signed off as being roadworthy for another year.
2. I have got my flu vaccination training done ready to start provision in my pharmacy on 1st October - and it was ONLINE only - I don't have to give up a Sunday and do practical training this year - I'm an old hand and done it for too many years now!
3. Last Saturday when I worked I was very thankful for it being a nice quiet day (well by the afternoon anyway) so I managed to get lots of things done.
4. Thanks to it being a nice quiet Saturday, I managed to get my smoking cessation update training done which had to be done by the end of September, I managed to read through everything and get the test passed first time - another thing off the list, check!
5. Another thing which made last weekend easier was that the local drug treatment centre where some of my daily prescriptions get their prescriptions in the week was shut on Friday. Now this was a pain on Friday as they all came in with their scripts and had to wait while they were sorted out, but come Saturday rather than have to stop every 5 minutes to measure methadone (as even though they are all told to bring their scripts in on a Friday so we can get them ready they don't) all the scripts had been brought in on the Friday so it was all ready to give out - made life easier! We have written a good letter to everyone with pick-up times and reiterating the weekend scripts must be brought in on a Friday rule, so hopefully the message will get through (it did seem to work in another branch I worked at which had a lot more methadone prescriptions).
6. Someone is continuing to be a task master - for those new to my blog, yes it's the Considerer! She pushes me and makes us go faster and further than I think I can possibly manage - and I do feel better for it! So thank you for believing in me more than I believe in myself! Our latest outside adventure (which will have to be less frequent soon as the evenings and starting to draw in :() was a major success, involved more intermittent running than any before, and hence when I checked the Runtastic app at the end we had gone further in a shorter time than we'd ever managed previously!
7. I got to go and spend the evening at my friend's house last Saturday night, had a little food and some drinks (I mixed Archers with cream soda for the first time - amazing!) and had arranged to sleep in her spare room so I didn't have to drive - enabling the drinking. I can't believe she's been there a year, and her 6 month old puppy I hadn't met before is adorable!
8. Sometime a few days before my last walk with Considerer I had watched a programme on Youtube about some girls with anorexia, who were actually advocating the benefits of periods of starving yourself. I found it a really sad programme and felt sorry for the girls, and that they couldn't see what everyone else saw when they looked at themselves.
So imagine my concern when on our walk, as motivation, Considerer came out with the phrase "nothing tastes as good as skinny feels". No no NOOOO I said. Uncharacteristically for me I actually argued my point and told her about the programme I watched and how I found it to be the most horrible catchphrase, I scared her a bit I think, and while in the right way I suppose it might be motivating, I will never hear that phrase and not think of that programme and the stupid pro-ana websites. So I am thankful that I saw the programme and was able to explain that side of it.
9. Sometime before last weekend my laptop power cable died a death, hence the lack of a post last weekend, as my laptop only keeps going for about an hour when it's not plugged in :(. I am thankful that Considerer's husband managed to solder and repair the cable to enable a full charge before it died again, and that my new cable from ebay arrived quickly, so I am fully back online again!

Sunset :) |
Sorry it was a bit work biased this week, hey, that's the life of the pharmacist - glad I've got things to be thankful about at work though hey!
Yeah if it can stay dry we can at least try and get out on the weekends. Yep, CGI woman needs to die, talk back to her, I PROMISE it helps! Think you were doing the crunches better than me! I am definitely glad I am totally back in using laptop as much as I want state :)
ReplyDeleteI think the saying should be, "Nothing tastes as good as being HEALTHY feels"--assuming that "healthy" is defined correctly!
ReplyDeleteooooooh, I like that!
DeleteI'm going to guess that people who need methadone aren't exactly planners.
ReplyDeleteYou are absolutely right about that skinny quote, and I think Kristi said it best, above. Be as healthy as you can be and be comfortable in your own skin.
lol, no they're not, even though the majority have nothing to do all day, no job, they seem to be wheeling and dealing a lot!
DeleteYep, I think the media has a lot to answer for re: self-esteem, but then apparantly they only give us what the readers want - it's a viscious circle!
When Considerer put that phrase on her post, I lit into her, too. I don't like it one little bit.
ReplyDeleteGreat sunset photo!
Working out is always better with a friend. And it usually gets done more often, too.
Sounds like it was quite a week of test taking and box checking. Good for you, getting it all done.
Yes, frequency, intensity and length of workouts all increased under her guidance, she is a taskmaster ;).
DeleteThank you, it was, but it does seem as soon as I get a job ticked off, another one rears its head!
