Twisted Mix Tape - Soundtracks

This week over at Jen's the theme for Twisted Mix Tape Tuesday is soundtracks.  I love my films, I love my musicals, so this has been very easy and enjoyable for me!

1. Beeches - Wind Beneath my Wings - Bette Midler
If you don't like to cry at weepies, don't watch Beeches.  Not to be confused with the much weirder and later "The Beach", this tells the story of two childhood friends from different walks of life, and this song is just perfect in the context of the film, just lovely.

2. Stepmom - Ain't no mountain high enough
Another film to be avoided by those who don't like to cry, this is brilliant as a mother spends some quality time with her kids knowing that she is seriously ill and may not have much longer left - I knew this song a little before the film, but in the context of the film the song is just even better :).

3. Blood Brothers - Easy terms (Mrs Johnstone)
Oh dear, I seem to be going on a weepy journey today!  This is one of my favourite musicals, and this track and one prior (My Child) discuss the dilemmas of Mrs Johnstone (pregnant with twins, too many children she can't control) and Mrs Lyons (can't have children, been trying too long) where Mrs Johnstone eventually keeps her word and gives a child to Mrs Lyons - angst and pain on both sides, heart-breaking, gets me every time!

4. Les Miserables - On my own - Eponine
Ah, unrequited love :(.  Poor Eponine!  Love Les Miserables, and this has always been my favourite from it.

5. Grey's Anatomy - The Story - Callie Torres
Wow this girl can belt out a tune, I LOVED it when Grey's did a singing episode, and it introduced me to this track.  I've checked out the original on youtube, which is also good, but the whole saga of this episode brings out the song even more!

So, please comment, and head over to Jen's and put in your list of favourite tunes from soundtracks!

    1. Sorry Jen, I selected the tracks ages ago when I first saw the list of themes, and it was only once I'd dropped all the videos in and started writing that I realised they were actually alll a bit depressing! But Stepmom is marvellous, I love Susan Sarandon, that moment in the film is one of the pure moments of joy and being silly DESPITE the adversity, and I love how the film finishes BEFORE the end of her life, so you don't actually get the most depressing portion and can just ponder and imagine yourself.
